If you thought that the summer was over, hold on to your hats and think again because with The Summer Gathering Weekender in Newquay, the balmy days of summer are still very much with us and it is of little wonder why this event is proving to be so popular as party goers from all over the UK get ready to enjoy one more almighty blow out before the nights draw in and winter is upon us once again.
This event is held around the third weekend in September and there really could not be a more appropriate venue than Newquay. After all, this is where so many revellers will have fantastic memories from the summer months.
The line-up for the weekend can only be described as nonstop with the centre of the proceedings being the Trevelgue Holiday Park, which is based just outside Newquay. It is a good idea to book your tickets well in advance because it is not only the cheaper option but the tickets do sell out quickly. Something that is set up especially for the weekender is the 'Zone Bar' at Trevelgue Holiday Park. This is regarded as the hub of all of the events, it can be used as a meeting place or somewhere where you can simply sit back and relax, hopefully enjoying the late summer sunshine whilst enjoying a beer or two.
A particular favourite of the weekender's would have to be the Saturday afternoon beach party on Newquay's Fistral Beach. A stage is set up on the beach and this is one of those instances where strange as it may seem, it really doesn't matter what the weather is doing. It is often the case that the crashing waves on Fistral Beach are to much of a temptation for many anyway, the heady atmosphere which is created by some of the UK's most talented DJ's during this afternoon beach party makes this the highlight of the weekend and as an ideal primer for the nights partying which is yet to come.
As you might expect, the Summer Gathering Weekender is about as laid back as it is possible to get and with Trevelgue being dedicated to this event the only rules to abide by are as long as it safe, legal and nobody complains you can basically do what you like. The refreshing aspect of this kind on mentality is that the vast majority of people simply get on with enjoying themselves which is what it is all about really, isn't it.
When it comes to the accommodation during the weekend, the holiday homes which are available offer everything that you could possibly need, for those on a tighter budget there are camping pitches available with the added attraction of a free electric hook up so that using hair straighteners and charging up your mobile will not be a problem.
If there was one piece of advice for anyone attending the Summer Gathering Weekender it would have to be this, make sure you book the following Monday off work because you will most definitely need it!
When the long hazy days of summer are coming to an end, do you know of any other events up and down the country where the spirit of summer continues and where everyone turns up to carry on partying?
