Torquay is a gracious seaside resort on the English Riviera, known for its record sunshine and mild climate. Torquay is justifiably proud of its nine sandy beaches and blue flag waters. Famous for its palm trees, it was the setting of the comedy series Fawlty Towers, although you may feel safer opting for the comfort of a self-catering holiday rental!
Along sweeping Torbay there are plenty of attractions and things to do. Torquay has an excellent choice of shops around the harbour and in the beautiful Pavilion Shopping Centre. There are four theatres and enough Michelin star restaurants to satisfy even the most discerning gastronome.
Go “down under” on a guided tour of Kents Cavern with its impressive history and collection of fossils. Ride the Babbacombe Cliff Railway and explore the Model Village or enjoy a day at the Living Coasts Zoo. Cockington Court and Country Park is a delightful thatched village with an old mansion, cricket pitch, gardens, church and craft workshop demonstrations. Take a horse and carriage ride around the village or indulge in a delicious Devon cream tea with fresh scones piled high with strawberry jam and thick clotted cream.
