Tucked beneath the Haldon Hills is the pleasant seaside town of Teignmouth. This bustling town is on the estuary of the River Teign and has stunning red sandstone cliffs that create the distinctive red sandy beaches. Teignmouth holds the record for hours of sunshine and its coastal position ensures it has mild weather.
Visitors to holiday apartments in Teignmouth and Shaldon return time and time again as there are few places more conveniently located. Gorgeous sandy beaches, recreational activities and the lure of shopping and culture in Exeter and Plymouth are all within easy reach. Keats House, St James' Church with its octagonal tower and the Teignmouth Museum are all worth a visit. With an annual Jazz festival, Regatta and Carnival there is always something to look forward to.
Across the River Teign is the smaller town of Shaldon with its impressive Regency architecture overlooking the sheltered estuary. It has a full range of family businesses that are well worth supporting, and five pubs for some great home-cooked food. At the top of the village is the well-known Shaldon Wildlife Trust, a small zoo dedicated to rare and endangered species. Ness Beach, the coastal path and Shaldon Golf Course are hidden gems nearby.
