An historic cottage with garden stream in the Dart Valley

Meadow Brook Cottage, Sandridge is a delightful 18th century cottage bordering a brook and reached down a peaceful country lane. Well appointed, it has retained some authentic features such as the flagstone kitchen floor, cool pantry and inglenook with woodburner. The sitting room is a homely place to relax or read in the window seat. Two bedrooms (a double and a twin) have gorgeous views over the countryside and there’s a small dressing room for a child’s cot. Off-road parking and a barbecue round off the amenities.

Relax in the summer house situated in the terraced garden and keep an eye open for kingfishers and wild ducks in the babbling brook. It’s a sheltered spot for enjoying a book or dining al fresco and listening to the birds.

Meadow Brook Cottage is in the hamlet of Sandridge, ¾ mile from Stoke Gabriel where you’ll find plenty of shops, pubs and opportunities for boat trips down the River Dart from the quay. Take the car ferry to historic Dartmouth with its Elizabethan architecture, Naval College and restaurants. It often hosts regattas and festivals. The historic Dartmouth Steam Railway provides a nostalgic trip to Paignton or you can visit National Trust properties including Agatha Christie’s Greenway (three miles) and the lovely Coleton Fishacre (six miles) with its terraced gardens. Beautiful beaches abound in nearby Torbay along with Churston Golf Course.
