Straight from the pages of a fairytale, Higher Lodge, Cockington Village is a listed thatched cottage dating back to the 17th century. Inside it is unmistakably 21st century with a modern open-plan kitchen diner and a comfortable sitting room with gas stove. Beneath the beamed ceiling there's a master bedroom with super king-size double bed (can be two singles) and quirky leaded windows and a king-size bedroom. Both have ensuite shower rooms. Behind the beech hedge there's a pretty private garden with patio area and parking for two vehicles.
Sit in the garden for pre-dinner drinks before strolling down the lane to the local Grade two listed Drum Inn (also thatched) for a delightful dining experience.
From Higher Lodge cottage guests can explore Cockington Village and Country Park with its preserved thatched cottages, water mill, shops and church. Enjoy walks through the water meadows and the beautiful cottage gardens in all seasons. Torquay railway station and Torre Abbey Museum and Gardens are just a mile away. Torbay is known for its sunny climate and golden sandy beaches but it also has excellent shopping, dining and entertainment. Visit the marine life at Living Coasts, and explore the prehistoric Kent's Cavern. Nearby Babbacombe has a Model Village and Torquay Golf Course is ten minutes away.
