Roadford Lake Lodges stands on 250 acres of Devonshire countryside beside the spectacular Roadford reservoir. It’s a fantastic place to relax surrounded by nature, and be as peaceful or active as you like. The large, modern lodges sleep up to nine people but can be booked together to accommodate larger groups looking to holiday in this beautiful corner of the country.
This complex comprises 30 lodges ranging from two to four bedrooms. Each is designed to make the most of the beautiful surroundings, with large windows showcasing rural views from each room and glass doors opening onto private furnished terraces. The light and airy open-plan living areas are comfortable, stylish and kitted out with all the contemporary conveniences you could want. Most of the lodges allow dogs, all are family-friendly, and every lodge has its own hot tub and parking. There is a communal gym and an outdoor washing station for hosing off muddy dogs and equipment.
The stunning Roadford Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in South England. Smaller ponds and wildflower meadows surround it, and it is a beautiful place for nature lovers to enjoy hiking, dog walking and birdwatching. If you want to try kayaking, paddle boarding, or sailing, head to the activity centre to take lessons or rent gear and head out under your own steam. Other activities include fishing, archery, biking and climbing. Guests of Roadford Lake Lodges enjoy 10% off all activities and equipment hire.
If you can tear yourself away from the delights of your lodge and the lake, you’ll find plenty to entertain you in the surrounding area. Nearby Broadwoodwidger is a quaint village with thatched cottages and a beautiful church. Also nearby is the historic town of Launceston (16 km), where you’ll find plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus a golf course if you fancy a round. Dartmoor National Park offers endless hiking, biking, climbing and wildlife spotting opportunities, and if the coast is more your style, take a day trip north to explore lively Bude or beautiful Widemouth Bay (35 km).
