Anyone up for a sleepover at Pendennis Castle?

With scary stories around the fire & a spooky atmosphere, a family sleepover at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is a night that will stay in the memory.

For something just a little bit different this February, how does a Family Sleepover at the historic Pendennis Castle in Falmouth sound? This is another example of English Heritage looking at ways to generate extra income for the upkeep of the castle and you would have to admit that something like this has great appeal.

As you would probably expect, the castle has a fascinating history since it was built under the reign of Henry VIII in order to protect the area from the threat of a Spanish or French invasion.

Things that go bump in the night!

Anyone who is considering taking advantage of the family sleepover should most definitely be made aware though of the many spooky stories which are related to the ghosts who are said to haunt the castle. This will all obviously add to the excitement of the sleepover but it should be mentioned that as a sleepover at the castle does not exactly come cheap, it would be a shame if younger children became so frightened that they didn't want to see the night out.

The cost of the sleepover is £85 per adult and £70 for a child but if you do happen to be a member of English Heritage you do get a discount so joining up may be worth consideration, especially if the whole family are planning to join in with the fun.

Cheap at the price!

Admittedly, at first sight these prices do seem to be slightly on the expensive side but when you actually look at what you are getting it all offers remarkably good value for money. As well as a bed for the night you also get to enjoy drinks around the open fire, not to mention a scrumptious meal in a setting which will no doubt stay in the memory for a very long time.

Snacks throughout the evening and a cooked breakfast in the morning all come included in the price so as you can see, for a memorable night in the castle, £240 for a family is not too bad at all.

Be prepared!

Don't forget though, Pendennis Castle is a big old place and it is still only February so don't turn up dressed as if you are staying in a five star hotel because the chances are it will get slightly chilly!

The sleepover starts at 7pm and finishes at 10am the next morning and as it is a Friday night there is always the option of spending the following day exploring Falmouth which also comes very highly recommended.

Before the night arrives it would be a good idea to carry out a little research about Pendennis Castle as learning a little about the fascinating history will add an awful lot to the enjoyment. Just eating and drinking in the same rooms as famous figures from the past will definitely go a long way to making this a night to remember and in most people's eyes, worth every single penny of the admittance price.

Are you familiar with Pendennis Castle and in particular the sleepover events? What about other castles around the country which offer events that are just that little bit different? Please share your stories with us, we'd love to find out more…
