Halloween is widely celebrated in Cornwall on or before October 31st and we have found several great family events that you may want to join in.
Zombie Walks and Monster Balls
The ever popular St Austell Zombie Walk returns. Visitors are invited to dress up and gather at the Market House around 7pm for a shuffle around the town. Led by the Undertaker, the organisers expect plenty of horror makeup and blood as well as spare body parts for bystanders to gawp at.
The walk ends at Aylmer square for a Mass “thriller” Dance routine where horror themed food and drinks are available. Sounds like an evening of horror for all, and prizes are awarded for best groups and individuals.
Designed with the family in mind, the Eden Project is hosting a Little Monsters Ball and promises fang-tastic fun and a bone-shaking disco! Tickets include 20-minutes skating on the ice rink.
Halloween in Cardinham Woods
One of the best Halloween events taking place around Halloween (October 31st) which is suitable for the whole family is the Halloween Trail at Cardinham Woods near Bodmin. As soon as winter draws in these beautiful woods take on a somewhat eerie feeling, which makes it the ideal venue for a trail such as this.
The younger generation will no doubt find the whole day to be a brilliant scary adventure and at only £2 per ticket it represents superb value for money. Whist you're there, finish off with refreshments at the well-known Woods Café. It can be a little pricey for a family but it offers a scrumptious selection of home baked cakes and attracts visitors from all over the Westcountry.
Halloween Ghost Nights at the Jamaica Inn
For the adults there's something which really is very frightening indeed so only think about getting involved with this if you are not of a nervous disposition. What's more, there are ghost nights available at this venue throughout the year so you will have plenty of opportunities to get involved, but bear in mind that these nights get booked up really quickly.
The venue is the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor, the place is about as terrifying as it is possible to get. Even on a summer's day it can seem like you are in the middle of winter such is the darkness of the place. It doesn't help that when you go into the pub for a drink there is a plaque on the floor with the simple statement, “On this spot Joss Merlyn was murdered” just about says it all really!
The price of a ghost night here costs in the region of £69 which includes a supper but one thing is for sure, it is about as far removed from the kind of Halloween that you may be used to – you have been warned.
