A luxury cottage with conservatory and Dartmoor views
Formerly a milking parlour, The Shippen is now a two bedroom luxury holiday cottage in quiet countryside bordering Dartmoor National Park. Laid out on two levels it has a well-lit upstairs living room with leather sofas, feature windows and superb moorland views. A stable door leads to a cosy conservatory. The kitchen is a pleasure to use and has every amenity including a dishwasher. Downstairs you’ll find a generous double and a twin bedroom sharing a bathroom with shower. This dog-friendly cottage has an enclosed garden with BBQ and off-road parking.
Bring a good book and enjoy the bright space of the conservatory even when the weather is cool and damp. It’s the perfect spot for indulging in a homemade Devon cream scone or two, picked up from a local bakery.
The Shippen is a quiet hideaway in the village of Grenofen, two miles from the bustling stannary town of Tavistock. Browse the pannier market for local artwork and antiques and pick a friendly café for a tasty lunch. The area is prime walking and cycling country with National Cycle Route 27 connecting Tavistock with Plymouth and Okehampton. Go horse riding, play golf at Yelverton Golf Club, walk beside the gushing river at Lydford Gorge (11 miles away) or hike around Burrator reservoir. Saltram House (13 miles)and Buckland Abbey (five miles) are National Trust gems.
