The area around Golant is known for its riverside walks leading to the waterfront harbour in historic Fowey, home of the du Maurier family of novelists. The Quay is lined with cafés, old inns and shops. Take the ancient Bodinnick chain Ferry to Polruan, visit Henry VIII's St Catherine's Castle, see the 15th century Old House of Foye and the town hall museum. Sandy Readymoney Cove (four miles) is sheltered by cliffs and has a bathing platform. If you fancy visiting charming Mevagissey, hop aboard the passenger ferry that runs during the summer.
