It is five miles south of Launceston, a lovely old town with walls, a gated arch and a well-maintained castle. Close to the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, adventurous visitors can go kayaking, ziplining and hiking at Tamar Trails. The lovely village of Calstock has pubs and a riverside walk to the National Trust Cotehele estate with gardens and an old quay. Crackington Haven and Bude offer sandy beaches 20 miles away and Tintagel castle ruins are steeped in legend.
