An authentic fishermen's cottage with original features
Tucked down a quiet lane in Calstock, Wickham Cottage is a sensitively restored fishermen's cottage for two with one bedroom. Behind the stone and slate facade you'll find wooden floors, an original stone fireplace and quirky stairs exuding character and charm. There's a modern well-appointed kitchen with dining area on the ground floor, a sitting room on the first floor and more stairs leading to the double bedroom and modern bathroom with bath and shower over.
Step outside the cottage and explore the artsy community of Calstock with its cafés, riverside pub and towering viaduct still carrying trains direct to Plymouth from this tranquil backwater on a scenic 30-minute journey.
From Wickham Cottage, Calstock, walk along the riverside footpath to mediaeval Cotehele, a well-preserved National Trust house, gardens and quayside café. Upstream is Morwellham Quay, a living history attraction where you can experience Victorian life, ride a train and visit a copper mine in this World Heritage Area. Tamar Trails three miles away offers woodland trails, tree surfing, zip lining and kayaking in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The stannary town of Tavistock, six miles from Calstock, is well worth a visit. It has a delightful market, riverside park, leisure centre, shops and cafés in iconic Duke of Bedford architecture.
