Cockle Shell, Port Isaac is a five-minute stroll down to sandy Port Gaverne which offers sheltered bathing and plenty of sand at low tide. In the opposite direction is pretty Port Isaac Beach. And the fishing harbour. The village itself has an excellent range of independent shops, fish restaurants, pubs and cafes. Tintagel is a dramatic coastal attraction eight miles away with an Old Post Office (National Trust), bridge across the gorge, and history dating back to King Arthur. Visit pretty Boscastle and the Pentargon Waterfall, or head inland for Bodmin Gaol tours, hikes on Bodmin Moor and a meal at the atmospheric Jamaica Inn.
