With three miles of golden sandy beaches and a west-facing location providing perfect breakers for surfing, Saunton and Braunton are some of the most popular resorts in North Devon with plenty of excellent holiday accommodation. Braunton, England's largest village, has olde-worlde winding streets with plenty of craft and gift shops. It is known for its excellent fish restaurants and the 16th century thatched tavern, the Williams Arms, which is a must for Sunday lunch.

Braunton Burrows are the largest sand dunes in the UK and are part of the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Britain. Sunny days will find plenty of families enjoying the delights of Saunton Sands, with plenty of space for everyone. It has good facilities, a shop, cafe, surf school and watersports equipment hire.

Within easy reach of Saunton and Braunton are two highly rated golf courses, the Tarka Trail with bicycle hire, Arlington Court, a splendid National Trusts estate with carriage rides and the huge shopping centre at Atlantic Village. Lundy Island is just a ferry trip away and the Big Sheep attraction and the Milky Way Adventure Park are both located at neighbouring Bideford.
